Nighthawk
First off, you have to call me Nighthawk. Hopefully you know the reference but definitely respect the moniker. (Its from Step Brothers, btw) I am your host to the North of the Cinemasters. Forged deep within the belly of a drunken volcano struck by lightning from a passing comet during the autumnal equinox, the Cinemasters were cast into existence to bring awesomeness to the realm of movie discussion to all who would gather to listen. I am the knowing things half of our namesake and I do my best to guard the sacred truths and trivia of all the movies I have watched through the years. I am a father to two righteous dudes, ages 5 and 7. When not siring them in the ways of Cinema I am absorbing as much film exposure and knowledge as I can so to bring you fine people my offerings of the written word. Ryan Reynolds is my North Star in all things filmtastic and I pledge to give you the finest commentary written and spoken I can Cine-muster.

31 Days of Horror: Vol. 2 – October 1st – “The Nun II”

So here we are and it’s somehow October once again. I’m not going to get too wistful but I am particularly fond of this time of year. The temperature starts to cool again and my favorite article of clothing comes off the closet shelf, the hoodie. It’s time for the pumpkin spice menagerie to re-emerge like a confident groundhog in February and take over every product it can get it’s …

12: Tangents Vol. 12: Clinton Musgrave’s 19th Movement of the Audiographical Snaphu

(PS: I’ve decided to start naming all our episodes as though Wes Anderson were cataloging them) I know we’ve been a bit sporadic lately, boys and girls. Apologies all around. There’s a myriad of things we could suggest that stood in the way but the reality is we do this for fun so we do it when we can. And believe me, childrens, this was a fun episode. We had …

11: Tangents Vol. 11: Dreaming of the Apple Vision Pro for Movies

It's 2024 and that means it's time for some brand new tangents! First on tap is the newest frontier in personal technological exploration. Ron will be acquiring the Apple Vision Pro in its initial offering and this is a serious game changer. While acknowledging this isn’t directly movie related, it’s very much movie adjacent as this presents a potentially whole new way for people to enjoy the home cinematic experience. …

31 Days of Horror – October 31st – “A Haunting in Venice”

Well this is it. We’ve reached the end and the big night is finally here. I think sitting here tonight I realized that one thing I would do differently in the future is perhaps have a better plan for a finale to something like this. I don’t have a real problem with a slapdash thrown together catalog over the majority of the month. I know myself well enough to understand …

31 Days of Horror – October 28th – “The People Under the Stairs”

After the success of Five Nights at Freddy’s, I figured I’d go back to the Peacock well and see what I could find to whet my appetite tonight. I know I’ve looked through their catalog before but I’ve not looked recently and found a few things that struck my fancy. Ultimately I felt the call of a Wed Craven 90’s classic. I picked this one up not too long ago …

31 Days of Horror – October 27th – “Five Nights at Freddy’s”

This is quite the occasion here, let me tell you. I’ve been planning on this one since probably before I really decided to officially do this whole 31 days thing. Every other day has mostly been a crap shoot of what I’m going to watch. No real rhyme or reason to the planning of what I view on any particular day. Whatever strikes my fancy that evening is what makes …

31 Days of Horror – October 26th – “Meg 2: The Trench”

Tonight I have to thank the good old Internet Movie Database for my free pass on this flick. They qualify this one as a horror movie. If I’m being honest it’s clearly leaning far more heavily on the action side of the film than the horror but I shouldn’t discount the efforts made to be both menacing and truly frightening at points in this film. Clearly this film is born …
